SEO Overview

The Search Engine Optimization section is accessible under the Tools menu in Merchant Manager.

The process of search engine optimization is designed to maximize the number of visitors to your web site/online store, through making it easier for search engines to index what content you have.

SEO can be managed by the store owner, by an employee, or by a specialized consultant.

To take full advantage of search engine optimization, it is recommended to develop a pro-active SEO strategy, which could involve simply activating features like these in Merchant Manager, which will help search engines to connect to your content.

You may also want to consider additional strategies such as submitting to various search engines, purchasing search advertising, or hiring an SEO consultant.

In general, these options in Merchant Manager are meant to be used by experienced users, but there are resources available that a person can use to gain that experience.

There are books available on the topic, and helpful tutorials on the Internet. (See SEO 101)

The new SEO section includes:

Global SEO values - These values are relocated from their previous location in the Text Editor.

NOTE: There is also new functionality that has been added when creating products, categories and subcategories, which allows you to establish an SEO strategy to target specific sections of your site. See the SEO for specific sections topic for more information.
