To access your store, you can always click the ONLINE CATALOG button in the top navigation, wherever you are in Merchant Manager.
The address (URL) that appears in the browser is the address that you can use to link from your Web page to your store. See Linking to Your Store for more information.
Example: https://id312.securedata.net/yourdomainname.com/merchantmanager/
The link is secure, and you will notice that unlike a regular web address that starts with http:, the secure address starts with https: -- where the "s" stands for secure.
Store owners have the option to change their store URL from the longer web address format above (in the Example) to a shorter form, to reflect the domain name more closely.
Example: yourdomain.com/store
The advantage of this option is that it allows a customer to access your store using a shorter URL, which has the advantage of having a more seamless transition if a person goes to that address from somewhere else on your site. For example, the person is at yourdomain.com, on the home page, and then they click on the store link you set up, which is yourdomain.com/store.
A shorter URL also has the advantage of being easier to promote within your site, so that people could more easily type in the address or remember it, to get back to it.

Shorter URL - "Mixed" Security If a store owner agrees to use the shorter, customized URL, then the Shopping Cart and Account Creation/My Account areas will still be secure, but the rest of the catalog will no longer be associated with a secure https url, and will technically not be secure. The customer would access the store at the shorter URL, but then when they enter the shopping cart (or create an account/manage it), the Web address will revert back to the longer securedata.net URL. In general, the only "critical" area that needs to be secure is the checkout process and account creation/management. |
For the store URL, a user can choose from the following three security settings:
• All SSL and use the securedata.net URL - this is the default setting.
• Mixed Security (described above)
• Custom SSL, which allows you to customize your URL completely and have a constant customer experience, so that the URL will not change.
To change the store URL:
1 |
Log in to SiteControlAccountManager and click the Ecommerce link. The store URL options are located on the ECommerce Manager screen, in the Store Setup area. |
2 |
• OPTION 1 - USE DEFAULT: All SSL and use the securedata.net URL - this is the default setting. The upper drop-down menu is set to Entire Store, and the lower drop-down menu is set to either /merchantmanager or /store. |
3 |
• OPTION 2 - MIXED SECURITY: The upper drop-down menu is set to Checkout Only, and the lower drop-down menu is set to either /merchantmanager or /store. |
4 |
• OPTION 3 - CUSTOM SSL: The upper drop-down menu is set to Entire Store, and the lower drop-down menu is set to either /merchantmanager or /store. Additionally, you will need to order your own custom SSL certificate. |
