MS Exchange offers a variety of powerful features to help you maximize resources and run critical communication tasks more efficiently. The Exchange server keeps track of everything for you, coordinating, updating and synchronizing all of the information.
Outlook or Outlook Web Access (OWA)
Outlook is a powerful application that allows employees to integrate email, calendar and tasks all in one place. Each mailbox includes a free copy of Outlook. Exchange also supports Outlook Web Access (OWA), which makes all of the powerful features of Outlook available to any employee with an Exchange mailbox and access to the Internet -- perfect for people who are travelling or working at home. Some companies are choosing to use Outlook Web Access exclusively, to simplify support so that they don't need to maintain/update Outlook software on every computer.
Advanced Contact Management
Exchange allows you to create and easily maintain a Global Address Book, which can contain contact information for every person in your company, as well as external contacts, contractors, vendors, etc. The Global Address Book is centralized, and always available to everyone through Outlook or Outlook Web Access. This allows you to keep contact information in one place, so it is always updated. This also makes it easier to schedule meetings through Outlook's Calendar feature.
Shared Calendar
A shared calendar is one of the most powerful features that Exchange provides through Outlook, where anyone in the company can coordinate meeting schedules, set appointments, and keep track of events. You access the calendar in the office, on the road from your laptop, or even in an Internet cafe or hotel computer (with OWA). It's a great way of synchronizing and updating schedules.
Public Folders
Public Folders allow you to have a central storage space, easily accessible through Outlook or OWA, for sharing files. You can easily set permissions to restrict access to particular sets of people. Any sort of file can be stored there, including works in progress, HR policies, etc.
