Change Domain Lock Status

By default, domain names registered through our registrar are automatically "locked". Locking a domain registration is a precautionary measure intended to prevent or at least minimize the possibility of unauthorized transfers to other registrars.

If you wish to transfer the registration to another registrar, then you must first unlock it. However, note that a domain name less than 60 days old cannot be transferred from one registrar to another.

To change the Lock status of a domain name:

1

Open SiteControl.

2

Verify that you are managing the proper domain name (if you have more than one).

3

Click the Domain Name icon under Manage Services.

4

In the Domain Names page, check the box next to the domain name that you want to unlock. Ex. 2testdomain.com

5

ClickEdit.

6

In the Domain Name Summary page, the current status (locked or unlocked) displays.

7

Click Edit.

8

Click the appropriate radio button - Locked or Unlocked.

9

Click Update Now.

10

A Domain Lock Confirmation page appears.
